I couldn't find what I wanted, so I made it.

I'm Brooklyn,  a wife, mom of three, farmer, and the maker behind Langhaven Farms.

Long before this was a business, I was simply a mom trying to find products I felt good about using on my family.

My son has extremely sensitive, eczema-prone skin. We tried product after product, only to deal with more dryness, irritation and angry skin. I wanted something gentle. Something simple. Something I could reach for without second-guessing what I was putting on my baby's skin. I couldn't find what I wanted. So I made it.

For our family, going back to basics made all the difference: gentle cold-process soap and a simple tallow balm became the products we reached for again and again. And that experience shaped a standard I still carry into everything I make: If I'm not 100% comfortable using it on my own babies, I won't share it with your family.

Made in our farmhouse, not a factory.

It started small,  tallow, simple ingredients, herbs, a kitchen counter, lots of experimenting and plenty of prayer.

I learned. I tested. I made messes. I changed things. And slowly, the things I was making for our own home became things other families wanted in theirs.

Today, Langhaven Farms has grown into a collection of skincare, body care and simple beauty products, but they're still made with the same thoughtfulness that went into those first jars. Because I'm still making them for families like mine.

This is what Farm Made Beauty means to me.

We raise our children here. We grow food, raise beef, care for our animals and work the land. We're learning every day what it means to use what we have, waste less, and steward well what God has given us. So when I say our products are farm made, I mean it. I render tallow. I infuse herbs. I formulate. I make the soap. I pour the balms. I fill the jars. I print the labels and pack the orders. There are real hands behind what you bring into your home.

And probably three little sets of hands somewhere nearby asking Mom for a snack.

Beauty doesn't have to cover you up.

Somewhere along the way, Langhaven became about more than solving a skincare problem. It became about changing the way I thought about beauty, too. I don't want to cover every freckle. I don't want a complicated routine. And I don't think we need ten products when two or three beautiful, hardworking ones will do. I want skincare that nourishes the skin you already have and simple beauty that lets you still look like you.

Today, when I formulate something new, I still think about the reason I started. My babies. My family. And wanting to know that what I was putting on their skin was something I truly felt comfortable with. That matters more to me than following every trend or filling our shelves with products simply because I could. 

I'd rather make things with purpose. Things we use ourselves. Things I'm proud to hand to another mom and say, “I made this for my family first.” So whether you've been here since the first jars from my farmhouse kitchen or you've only just found us, thank you.
