Our Products

What is beef tallow?

​

Tallow is rendered beef fat — a traditional ingredient that has been used in soaps and skincare for generations.

At Langhaven Farms, tallow is at the heart of what we do. We carefully render it and turn it into simple, nourishing products made right here on our farm.

Where does your tallow come from?

​

We believe knowing where our ingredients come from matters.

Our tallow comes from grass-fed beef raised either here on our farm or sourced from farmers we know and trust.

It's one of the things I love most about what we make... taking an ingredient connected directly to agriculture and turning it into something beautiful and useful for your family's everyday life.

Are all of your products completely natural?

We believe in being transparent rather than using buzzwords.

You'll find simple tallow-based formulas, botanical infusions, essential oils and unscented options throughout our collection. Some of our seasonal and scented products may also contain carefully selected, skin-safe fragrance oils. When fragrance is used, it will always be clearly listed so you can decide what you're comfortable using.

My personal standard is simple: I won't formulate something I'm not comfortable having in my own home and around my own family.

Do you have products for sensitive skin?

​

Yes! Some of the products closest to my heart are our simplest ones.

My own son has extremely sensitive, eczema-prone skin, which played a huge role in why I started making our own products in the first place. For our family, we've found that keeping his routine incredibly simple with gentle cold-process soap and a simple tallow balm works best for his skin. Everyone's skin is different, though. If you're particularly sensitive, I recommend starting with one of our simplest or unscented formulas and patch testing before regular use.

Our products are cosmetics and are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure eczema or any other medical condition.

Why do you use fragrance oils if you're a natural skincare company?

​

Because I've learned that "natural" isn't automatically synonymous with better for every person. Rather than building Langhaven around fear of certain ingredients, I want to formulate thoughtfully and be completely transparent about what we're using.

We offer botanical, essential-oil, unscented and fragranced options so you can choose what works for you and your family.

Our fragrance oils are selected for their intended cosmetic application and used within appropriate usage guidelines. If fragrance isn't your thing, that's okay! We'll always have beautiful options for you too.

Tallow & Soap

Is tallow greasy?

​

A little goes a LONG way!

Tallow balms are concentrated and don't contain the large amount of water you'd find in a traditional lotion. Start with much less than you think you need, warm it between your fingers and massage it into your skin.If you're feeling overly greasy afterward, you've probably just used too much.

Is your soap made with lye?

​

Yes!

True cold-process soap is made through a process called saponification, where sodium hydroxide (lye) reacts with fats and oils to create soap. When a properly formulated soap has finished saponifying and curing, it isn't the same mixture of raw oils and lye you started with and you've created soap.

Our bars are handcrafted in small batches and allowed time to cure before they're offered for sale.

Why does my handmade soap look slightly different from my last bar?

​

Because it's actually handmade! Small variations in colour, shape, texture and appearance can happen from batch to batch. We think that's part of the beauty of buying something made by real hands rather than mass-produced by a machine.

Using & Caring for Your Products

​

How much tallow should I use?

​

Start tiny. Really tiny. For your face, begin with approximately a pea-sized amount or less and adjust from there. Tallow is concentrated, so you don't need a handful of product to moisturize your skin.

​

How should I store my tallow?

​

Keep your products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Because we don't formulate our tallow balms to behave like highly processed commercial creams, temperature changes can affect their texture.

My tallow melted! Is it ruined?

​Usually, no.

Tallow naturally changes consistency with temperature. During warm Canadian summers, a balm may soften or even melt during shipping or if it's left somewhere hot. Place it somewhere cool and allow it to firm back up. The texture may look slightly different afterward, but a temperature-related texture change doesn't necessarily mean the product has spoiled.

Orders & Shipping

Where do you ship?

​Langhaven Farms is proudly Canadian, and we ship orders across Canada.

​

How quickly will my order ship?

We're a small farm and family first ... your order isn't coming from a warehouse.

Products are made and packed in small batches here on our farm, so processing times may vary during launches, holidays and particularly busy seasons. Current processing estimates will be provided at checkout or announced on our website when we're experiencing longer-than-usual turnaround times.

Will I receive tracking?

When tracked shipping is selected/provided for your order, you'll receive tracking information once your shipping label has been created. Please allow some time for the carrier to scan your package and begin displaying tracking updates.

Do you offer local pickup?

Yes! We o offer on farm pickup. Simply select local pickup at the time of placing your order. We will send an order confirmation and let you know when your product is ready for pickup. We will give you that days combination to unlock the cabinet and pickup your order. 

​

Returns & Order Problems

​

Can I return a skincare product?

For hygiene and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns of opened or used personal-care products simply because you don't like the scent, texture or product.However, if we've made a mistake or your order arrives damaged, please contact us. We want to know about it and will work with you to make it right.

​

What if my order arrives damaged or I receive the wrong product?

Please email langhavenfarms@gmail.com as soon as possible with your order number and photos of the issue.

We're a tiny business run by real humans, and occasionally mistakes happen. If the mistake is ours, we'll do our best to fix it.

 

 

Wholesale, Events & Collaborations

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes! We work with select retailers who are a good fit for Langhaven Farms.

Email langhavenfarms@gmail.com with your store name, location and a little about your business to request wholesale information.

Can I order Langhaven products as wedding or shower favours?

Absolutely. We may offer special pricing for larger orders, and depending on quantity and timeline, custom labels, scents, packaging or product selections may also be possible.

Please contact us before ordering so we can discuss your event and make sure we have enough production time.

 

Do you work with creators or affiliates?

Yes! We're always interested in meeting creators who genuinely love Langhaven and connect with what we're building. You don't need a massive following.
